TSI Harley-Davidson/Buell Now Offers 2 Rider Education Programs: The Rider's Edge® New Rider Course (for beginner riders) and The Rider's Edge® Skilled Rider Course (for more experienced riders)
The New Rider Course is a 5 Day Program that Consists of:
12 hours-classroom instruction
13 hours-hands on motorcycle range riding/instruction
Our instructors are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) as well as Harley-Davidson. The New Rider Course teaches the MSF Basic RiderCourse curriculum with supplemental materials and activities developed by Harley-Davidson. Students will learn basic riding skills along with the opportunity to experience the Harley-Davidson lifestyle.

The Skilled Rider Course is a 1 Day Program that Consists of: 8 hours of range and classroom instruction
Our instructors are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) as well as Harley-Davidson. The Skilled Rider Course teaches the MSF Experienced RiderCourse curriculum with supplemental materials and activities developed by Harley-Davidson. Students will learn advanced riding skills and will receive personalized coaching.
How to Register:
In order to register for the Skilled Rider Course, you must meet the following requirements:
Valid motorcycle endorsed driver's license
Minimum of 6 months and over 500 miles of riding experience
Ownership of a registered street legal motorcycle to ride during the class (must provide proof of registration)
Proof of motorcycle insurance

| New Rider Course FAQ's
Q. Do I need to use my own bike for the course?
A. No. We provide Buell® Blast® (500cc) motorcycles for the class.
Q. Do I need a motorcycle learner's permit before
I take the course?
A. No. You do not have to have any experience riding motorcycles.
The on-cycle portion of the class is done in a parking lot (painted range) You must have a valid driver's license.
Q. What do I need to wear?
A. For the on-cycle portion of the course you need the following:
A motorcycle helmet that meets DOT specifications
Sturdy over the ankle footwear w/a low heel and rubber soles
Protective eye-wear
Full-fingered gloves (preferably leather)
A long sleeved jacket or shirt
Durable long pants (denim or other comparable material, non flare and without tears or holes)
Q. What if I fail the course?
A. Not to worry...you will have the chance to re-take the course at a discounted rate.
Q. Do I need to attend all 5 days of the course?
A. Yes. To successfully complete the course, you must attend all 5 days (approx 25 hrs).
Q. Once I complete the course successfully, how do I go about getting my motorcycle license?
A. Upon successful completion of the course, CT & MA residents will be waived from the on-cycle licensing skill test at the Department of Motor Vehicles. You must go to your DMV, show them your completion card and take a written test. Once you complete the written test sucessfully, you will then receive your motorcycle endorsement.
Q. How far in advance do I need to register for a course?
A. As soon as you decide you want to take the course. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Classes are limited to six students and fill quickly. |
